Canine Essentials and Dr. Geller are fully insured for training Pet Dogs and Assistance Dogs.
This means that Canine Essentials does not provide insurance. Rather, this page explains that Canine Essentials Pty. Ltd. and Dr. Geller are fully insured to engage in the following Business Activities.

- Sport & Obedience Training (including Agility, Rally O, Fly Ball & Track)
- Behavioural Modification & Assessment
- Pet Pre-School
- In Home Training & Private Consultants (Including Companion Animals)
- Pet Boarding
- Nursing Home visits & School visits
- Seminars & Lectures
- Pet Transportation
- Pet Walking
- Distribution / Sale of Products
- Manufactoring Products (dry pet food / pet accessories etc)
- Assistance Dog Training and Accreditation
- Guide/Therapy/Assistance Dog Training
- Scent Detection AKA Nose Work (Excluding Drugs and Explosives)
Limits of Liability of the Insurance Held with Marsh Insurance
Public Liability $ 10,000,000
Contingent Care, Custody & Control Extension $ 50,000 per animal
Pollution Liability $ 10,000,000
Products Liability $ 10,000,000
Professional Indemnity $ 2,000,000
EXCLUSIONS
- ABSOLUTE CORONAVIRUS EXCLUSION
Any claim, loss, liability, legal liability, cost or expense of whatsoever nature directly or indirectly arising out of, contributed to by or resulting from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), or any mutation or variation thereof.
This exclusion also applies to any claim, loss cost or expense of whatever nature directly or indirectly arising out of, contributed to by or resulting from:
(i) any fear or threat (whether actual or perceived) of; or
(ii) any action taken in controlling, preventing, suppressing or in any way relating to any outbreak of; coronavirus disease (COVID-19), severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), or any mutation or variation thereof
Insurance Endorsements: Pet Transportation
Canine Essentials Pty. Ltd. Insurance Policy is extended to cover Damage to animals arising directly or indirectly out of the ownership, possession or use of any motor vehicle or trailer by or on behalf of the Insured for the purposes of animal transportation.
All other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions remain unaltered.
Insurance Endorsements: Care Custody and Control Extension (Pet Liability)
Canine Essentials Pty. Ltd. Insurance Policy extends to cover the Insured’s liability for any Damage to any pet in the Insured’s care, custody and control for an amount not exceeding $50,000 per animal and $250,000 in the annual aggregate.
Provided always that:
- This Policy shall not apply to any property covered by any other policy in force covering the Insured or any other entity having an interest in the damaged pet
AND - This Policy shall not apply to Damage to horses.
For the purposes of this extension, Damage is defined as injured, lost, fallen ill or death.
Insurance Endorsements: Dangerous Breeds Exclusion
Canine Essentials Pty. Ltd. Insurance Policy excludes any liability, claims, costs or expenses arising directly or indirectly, out of or caused by, through or in connection with dangerous dogs. For the purposes of this endorsement, dangerous dogs shall include, but not be limited to, the following breeds:
- Pit bull terrier
- Japanese tosa
- Dogo argentino
- Fila brasileiro
And any dog which is classified as being dangerous by the relevant state legislation.
All other terms, conditions, definitions, limitations, exclusions and provisions remain unaltered.
Canine Essentials will therefore not train any dog that is of the above breeds and/or has been declared a dangerous dog by the relevant state legislation.
Assistance Dogs Trained By Canine Essentials: Liability of Damage
According to the leaders in Assistance Dog Standards, Assistance Dogs International (2016b) has designed a “Model Law” that they encourage federal and state bodies to adopt. In this, they consider what should happen if the Assistance Dog should cause damage:
- The owner of an assistance dog is solely liable for any damage to persons, premises, or facilities including places of public accommodation, public conveyances or transportation services, common carrier of passengers, places of housing accommodations, and places of employment caused by that assistance dog.
- An “Individual with a disability”, including but not limited to, the blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or otherwise disabled who uses an assistance dog shall keep the dog properly harnessed or Leashed, and a person who is injured by the dog because of an “Individual with a disability”, including but not limited to, the blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or otherwise disabled failure to properly harness or leash the dog is entitled to maintain a cause of action for damages in a court of competent jurisdiction under the same laws applicable to other causes brought for the redress of injuries caused by animals.
All clients who have had (or are engaged with) training their Assistance Dogs with Canine Essentials have agreed to accept liability of damage.

I have been training with Dr Geller for the last 1.5 years. In this time I have trained my beautiful Labrador Zola to be my Assistance Dog and we have now passed all of our formal training. Working with Dr Geller has been an amazing experience. She is kind, caring, extremely knowledgeable and honest. She will always give you the honest feedback that is so necessary when it comes to dog training. She has an exceptional grasp on what she teaches and why and will always explain the reasons behind why she teaches what she does. Training up my Assistance Dog through Canine Essentials has changed my life. I have gained a confidence and independence in my everyday life I didn’t know was possible. I got Canine Essentials Trainer Georgia to start me off on a good foot with my new puppy Nachos. Everything was explained really well and my puppy who doent like anyone came to her the first time and licked her lots and cuddled her. I made sure I chose her because she knew the breed well staffy x and i booked extra sessions to make sure Nachos and me could walk well and he didnt pull like he was. She also tought me about vaccintians and worming.
Canine Essentials have helped our family in more ways than I can possibly put in words. Going back 2 and a half years ago it was suggested to me my then 4 year old son would benifit from having a assistance dog to cope with his Autism and uncontrolled epilepsy so I started to Google for help. Well the waiting list for fully trained dog’s was not only huge (over 2 years) but also extremely expensive well into the $20k mark and this was just money we didn’t have, until I came across Canine Essentials I first made contact with the owner Dr Geller and explained our situation. Well…… her response was so heart warming she was extremely understanding and more than willing to help. We had brough a puppy and made arrangements to meet her. Fast forward we have a fully accredited assistance dog for our son and this has help us so much with outings and all his medical appointments. We also have another dog in training. I want am to let anyone know who is looking to please contact Canine Essentials it has changed our life’s and will certainly change yours. I began training my 12 week old puppy Koda without a clue of what I was doing. We began our journey in Good Manners Level 1 and I was so nervous. But on the first day of training, Dr. Georgia Geller handed me her training booklet and went through it with me step by step. She told me what I needed to focus on specifically with Koda and how to get him excited for training! Within a few weeks Koda and I went from being nervous and shy to walking through those doors with confidence! From there, Dr. Georgia Geller supported Koda and I to become an Assistance Dog – Handler Team!

Not only does she support the dogs, but she supports the handlers through their journey. She goes above and beyond for her clients, supporting them through any difficulty they encounter whether its Advocacy, Public Access Rights, or dog training. She offers a knowledgeable and personalised approach to force-free training, considering each individuals needs.
As a young person with a lifelong disability, I am so thankful for Dr. Georgia Geller’s support in helping me build mine and Koda’s confidence, and achieve my goals.
